Village of Nashville

VILLAGE ALLEY MAINTENANCE POLICY

The village will maintain the following alleys.

·                     A village map identifying the status of all alleys in the village will be maintained in the Nashville Village Hall, and the DPW Office.  The Village Office and DPW Office will also keep a list of alleys maintained by the village.

·                     The DPW Department will grade and fill as determined by the DPW Superintendent alleys maintained by the village.

·                     Snow plowing of alleys maintained by the village will be done at the discretion of the DPW Superintendent.  Village streets will have priority in snow plowing.

·                     Residents with property adjoining an alley not maintained by the village may petition the village council to add an alley to the maintenance list.

LIST OF ALLEY’S THAT WERE CHANGED TO LOCAL STREETS – 12-9-1999

1. Water Alley - The full length, from Intersection of Reed Street and North Main to Cherry Alley.  (NOW WATER ST)

2. Main Alley - Alley running North and South from the Fire Barn to Church Street. (NOW PUTNAM ST)

3. Cherry Alley - Alley running West from Main Street across from the Shell Station to DPW Garage. (NOW GRIBBON ST)

4.Middle Alley - Alley running from Thornapple River across Reed Street to Gregg Street.  (NOW GLASGOW ST)

5.  Sherman Alley - Alley running West off Main Street directly across from Sherman Street. (NOW W SHERMAN ST)

LIST OF ALLEY’S THAT WERE CHANGED TO LOCAL STREETS – 3-10-2011

1. Church Alley – Alley running East and West from M-66 to State St. – parallel to Washington St next to the Fire Barn (one block only)

2. Church Alley – Alley running East and West between State St and Queen St – parallel to Gregg St and Washington St (to Kellogg School) (one block only)
